Everyone has their own unique style and preference on how to decorate their home. Interior design is an art form of its own and can be done in many different ways. Here are 5 tips to help with the interior design of your home.
1.) Paint Small Rooms with Lighter Colors
Small rooms can feel cramped and cave-like with dark colors. Painting your small room with soft, light colors will make the room feel much bigger. The natural light that enters a small room will play off the light colors of the walls making it feel larger than it actually is.
2.) Mirrors, Mirrors, Mirrors
Mirrors can be your best friend when it comes to interior design. If you have a small room in your home, adding mirrors creates an optical illusion of the room feeling bigger. Mirrors can be used instead of artwork to fill empty walls in a room. If there is a room in your home that doesn't have much natural light, placing a mirror across the room from the natural light source can optimize the light coming into the room making it brighter.
3.) Add Plants
Every home should have plants inside. Plants not only clean the air in your home but add color and texture to your home. They are inexpensive and you can add as many or little as you like.
4.) Use Rugs
Rugs can add texture, color, and personality to a room. Especially rooms with hardwood floors or tile. You can use warm colored rugs in the winter time and light colored rugs in the summer to really add character to your room. Mix and match rugs or use the same color rugs with different patterns. The possibilities are endless.
5.) Use What You Already Own
Go through those boxes that have been in the attic forever. Accessories throughout your home will add depth and texture. Utilize things you already own to keep costs down when decorating your home.
